What the Heck is Going on in Charlestown?

Welcome to the House of Cards: Charlestown

Today, the News and Tribune posted a story of an individual identified as John Rogers, threatening "embarrassing" info he'll release about Charlestown Democratic Mayoral Candidate Treva Hodges unless she withdrawals from the race within 24 hours. Below is from an anonymous submission on another post. Could this be the embarrassing info? Only time will tell.

Apparently there is a video floating around featuring Hodges. In the video it is stated
"...she (Treva Hodges) openly admits to adopting two children into a home that she believed was unstable. After she was raped, she left her kids in the care of the man that abused and raped her. She also claims that law enforcement refused to file a report when she supposedly reported the rape in the first place... So she has no documentation to back up her claims of rape. No rape kit, no police report, nothing. And if this guy is a violent rapist as she says, she placed her kids in harm's way just so she could get away herself?"

Is there a video?
Is any of this true?

  1. The video was posted to her Facebook campaign page. In the video, she spends 16 minutes of a 20 minute video attacking her ex-husband with these unfounded accusations, finishing with pitiful claims that the incumbent mayor is slandering her.

She claims that she tried to file a police report "weeks" after the alleged rape but the police wouldn't listen. In reality she waited six years to file a police report, and the police investigated just like they would have if she filed the police report six years earlier. According to her ex-husband, he complied fully with the investigation, and no arrest was made and no formal charges were ever brought against him. Aside from a couple of speeding tickets, he has absolutely no police record whatsoever. In his opinion, the police report was only filed to delay the child support case that he brought against her, because she was refusing to agree to pay child support backdated to the filing date of the lawsuit and believed that any delay in the case would reduce the amount of child support that she would ultimately have to pay.

If she claims slander is wrong, why is it okay for her to publicly post a video slandering her ex-husband? She has absolutely no proof to back up any of her claims, but the blogs she kept at the time paint a picture of a happy and stable family. What changed? Did she change her mind about the kids after she adopted them? It would explain why she left them with a man she now claims is an abusive rapist. It would explain why she felt compelled to deny the children the support they deserved. Maybe she didn't file the police report at the time because she was afraid she would have to take the kids!

Her ex found out about the videos and has brought a lawsuit against her. I know we're supposed to "believe women" and all that, but the women HAVE to be credible. She's lying to the people of Charlestown. If she'll lie about this, what else will she lie about?

I wonder if she'll fight against paying more child support if she gets elected!
